K. Hovnanian to Replace Abandoned Building with Homes
EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Nov. 3, 2006) -- K. Hovnanian Homes today said it has plans to demolish a building in Ewing Township that has been abandoned for eight years and, in its place, build 50 townhomes. The company received its approval from the Township Planning Board last night. It must now get additional permits from the State and County in order to complete the project. Townspeople can expect to see the abandoned building knocked down and construction to begin in late 2007. "We're very excited to be working with Ewing Township to provide these homes," said Michael Villane, Area Vice President for K. Hovnanian Homes. "We appreciate Ewing Township's confidence in us and we praise the township's leaders for their foresight. This project will remove an unsightly and dangerous building, return valuable land to the township's tax rolls and provide quality homes for 50 families." An abandoned building on the 3.6-acre parcel at the corner of Parkside Avenue and Poland Street was once used as a bowling alley and then as the first headquarters of the New Jersey Network. In its place, K. Hovnanian will build 44 elegant market rate town homes featuring two bedrooms, two bath and garage. In addition, the community, to be called Parkside Village, will include six Mt. Laurel homes. As part of the overall development, K. Hovnanian has agreed to improve the community bus stop along Parkside Avenue. K. Hovnanian Homes is New Jersey's largest builder and the seventh largest homebuilder in the country. The company is known for its expertise in community redevelopment.
